Hey all you gift-giving enthuisiats! It’s Rebecca here from Cauldron Designs. I just have a couple of quick announcements for you all in regards to our new Halloween range.
As I am sure you are aware our new Halloween range launched today Sunday 1st October 2023. So we have lots of new products on the website for you all to go shop. However, this launch was not without its own hiccups. We currently only have part of our range live on the website. We wanted to offer more products in this launch, however, due to delays in deliveries and orders we had to cut some of the line. But fear not, we are expecting to be able to release the rest of the line on Friday the 13th of October (I know very apt for the spooky season, right?). I’ll give you more info on what you can expect in that line later in this blog.
But alas, what were the hiccups with the launch (other than half the line missing) I hear you say? Well, I had a little bit of updating to do on the website on Saturday, which I spent mostly the whole day on, only to find there was an error somewhere in the site and half of the content from my pages was not visible to the public! The last thing you need the day before adding new products to the site. So I troubleshooted for the whole evening, reverted to backup versions of the site, updated plug-ins, and cleared cache. I literally did everything I could but after hours I could not fix the issue and was so deflated. Only to, by chance, decided to try turning off a setting (that has been on my site since it launched so there was no reason for this to be the newly found issue), to discover that was the issue and my site was functional again. Now I had to fix up all the work I had lost between backup versions! But I did it. I got the site working again, I got the new Halloween range uploaded to the site (albeit a few hours late), and I am working on getting the rest of the range sorted for you all very soon.
As a new small business owner and a sole trader, no matter how much you prepare yourself for the amount of work that goes into running a business, it’s not until you’re in the deep end that you realise just how much there actually is. I’m not a web developer and I’m learning as I go with WordPress, so when issues arise they really throw a fork in the road, but somehow it always turns out OK in the end. I feel like I am always working on something, always on the go, a never-ending to do list, but yet I have never been happier. I really am loving being self-employed and running this little business (even with all the heartache it causes me at times). It just goes to show that hard work pays off, and when you enjoy what you are doing it doesn’t feel like work at all.
I just wanted to share this with you as a little bit of positivity and motivation for you all on the 1st of the month, a new month, a blank slate. If you have been thinking of chasing your dreams go for it. I never imagined I would be able to do what I am doing now, and yet I manage to pull it off somehow. I used to always worry about what if, focus on what I couldn’t do, and procrastinate everything until it was perfect, but now the perfectionist in me is learning to go with the flow, to take chances, and only look at the steps in front of me. You don’t have to have the whole road mapped out, you just need a general direction of where you are going. I hope that you all have an amazing month ahead and believe in yourselves. I am truly so grateful for all of your support, it means the world to me.
Now that my attempt at a motivational speech/tangent is over let’s get to the real reason you are all here. What is missing from the new Halloween range? Well, as mentioned I am waiting on deliveries of certain equipment and materials. I thought I would have it in time for today but that didn’t pan out. So instead of feeling defeated, I have launched the products that I am capable of making now and held back the rest. I will get clarification this week on when I’ll have these delivereis and once I know for definite that I will have them in time for Friday 13th I will open a pre-sale for anyone who wants to make sure that they get their delivery first. You can expect personalised trick-or-treat bags (children’s names can be added), spooky coasters, scary mousemats, frightening bookmarks, terrifying magnets, and petrifying cushions. I will release the designs prior to Friday the 13th so you will have a good indication on whether or not this product drop is for you!
